Coming Friday

We have one up now with more to come each week.
Look for our X-Men Review Friday afternoon.
For now though here is a look at The Patriot.
The Patriot.
First I should start off
by saying that after seeing Godzilla I wondered how Devlin and Emmerich
couldmake a good film. Independence Day was a good
film
but not a serious one. And Godzilla, well let's not go there. This film
though is a redemption of sorts for them in that it is a truly great masterpiece. The
film itself runs long but it is all worth it in the end.
Mel Gibson plays an militia leader who has a dark past he would rather forget and that is the reason he will never go to war again. But after his son is murdered in cold blood in front of him by a general for the british army he goes off to lead a militia group against the British.
The acting in this very well done. Mel Gibson yet again does very good acting. Of cource there is lots of violence in this film, the only film we could in which Mel stared in and did not kill a single person is Conspiracy Theory.
The costumes and war scenes are remarkable but the script is what is truly amazing. The film comes off as a comedy/drama in the end with many one liners if you can believe it. The story is not just your average revenge story either. In the film He must come terms with his past and his family.
Over all a truly great film and one to look for at the Oscars next year.
